Green Living Project in Mexico

I just returned from a 14 day trip traveling through southern Mexico with Green Living Project. The purpose of the expedition was to document six sustainable tourism projects in four Mexican states. The projects included Pueblos Mancomunados de la Sirra Norte de Oaxaca, Huatulco Eco-Resort in La Crucecita, Finca Argovia Coffee Plantation and Resort in Tapachula, Hacienda Chichen in Chichen Itza, Mayakoba at Playa del Carmen, and Community Tours Sian Ka'an in the Sian Ka'an Biosphere near Tulum. The projects ranged from small villages 10,000 feet up in the mountains to luxury resorts on the sea.

We had the opportunity to participate in an annual 400 year old fiesta in the Sierra Norte's, walk through the only nature preserve in Mexico to encompass both land and ocean, take a 4 hour helicopter ride over the mountains of Chiapas then up the Pacific coast, and swim down a 9km natural canal (with crystal clear, turquoise water) in the Sian Ka'an Biosphere. Even though we experienced such beautiful locations that spanned mountain tops to the ocean the wonderful people who hosted our stays and shared their lives, hard work, and information with us was the most memorable piece.
