"Souvenirs" Audio Post

About a week ago I finished the bulk of the audio editing for the feature film "Souvenirs." I worked up the vast majority of sound effects ranging from footsteps to gun fire and explosions.

Part way through the process it become quite evident that no sound effect libraries had adequate sounds for the WWII or modern weapons. So, myself, Tom Forliti, and Jeff DesLauries (along with an audio recorder from Patrick Schaefer) went down to the Traxler's Hunting Preserve to fire off the weapons with live ammunition.

We used 17 microphones in all to record two full banks of surround sound, mechanism noises, and impacts. Bullets were fired in to wood, metal, dirt, and rubber with additional microphones to capture the bullet whiz-by's.

The resulting audio recordings are, by far, the best sounding weapons recordings I have ever heard!
